Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell that a network request has come from StatusCloud?
If you believe that StatusCloud is sending you malicious requests, or is otherwise negatively affecting your site, contact our abuse team immediately.
All HTTP checks that we perform contain a User-Agent header that clearly identifies StatusCloud.
The specific value used depends on the type of check; see this answer for more
details.
For more information on User-Agent headers, see
this article.
Non-HTTP checks are not able to set headers, so you should refer to our IP addresses. Please note that these can change over time.
Enterprise users may be able to run monitors using a custom user agent or a dedicated IP address not on the public list. However, any such monitors can only target resources that we have verified that the customer owns, so this should not affect your site.
What is the StatusCloud user agent?
Our standard HTTP checks contain a User-Agent header of:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; StatusCloud/1.0; statuscloud.com)
For HTTP checks running in a headless browser, the user agent is:
<BROWSER_USER_AGENT> StatusCloud/1.0 (statuscloud.com)
where <BROWSER_USER_AGENT> is the standard user agent of the browser used at the time.
For example, checks using a recent version of Google Chrome might have a user agent of:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/97.0.4692.71 Safari/537.36 StatusCloud/1.0 (statuscloud.com)
The format of Chrome's user agent will change soon; see
this blog post.
Our user agent will continue to end with StatusCloud/1.0 (statuscloud.com).
What IP addresses do your monitoring servers use?
See this page for full details, including exceptions and changes.
What phone numbers does StatusCloud call or send text messages from?
The phone number we use depends on the country code of the number that we're dialing, but will always be one of the following numbers:
+44 78888 66442 for the UK and Europe
+1 (something) for North America and all other countries
Where is my data stored?
Predominantly, data is located in the UK and EU. To provide our global monitoring service, some configuration data has to be transferred internationally. For full details, see this page.
