Creating a Monitor
Setting up a new monitor is straightforward from within your StatusCloud console, and takes only a few moments.
In this example, we will create a Simple Uptime monitor that checks the status of example.com every 5 minutes and sends us an email alert if the site goes offline.
This guide assumes that you are already a StatusCloud user - if not, you should complete these steps before continuing.
Guide
- First, log in to your StatusCloud console.
- Go to the Monitors page, then click on New Monitor.
- Select which type of monitor you wish to create (in our example this is Simple Uptime), then click Next.
- In the Basics section, complete the first box to give you monitor a name.
- Next, type in the URL of the site you want to monitor (in our example this is https‍://example.com).
- If you want to adjust the check frequency you change this in the following box, otherwise leave the default of 5 minutes.
- Click Next to continue to the Alerts page.
- Select which alerts to send (in our example this is the default of Just me (by email)) - for more information see Configuring Alerts.
- Finally, click on Finish and wait for your monitor to be created.
Next Steps
- Add your monitor to a Status Page
- Create an HTTP Monitor with custom rules
- Add a Heartbeat Monitor to check on a background task
